Victorian Row House – Washington, D.C.

Full Home Contemporary Renovation, Bloomingdale

Distinctive. Edgy. Elegant…city living at its best. Coffered ceilings, recessed lighting, brick wall accents throughout and 7” hand scraped white oak flooring restored this stately Victorian built in 1900 to a contemporary version of itself. With a completely open floor plan on the main level, there is plenty of room for entertainment.

About The Project

When we bought the home, it had been in one family for nearly 70yrs.  The seller wanted to make the family proud by restoring it for a new family to enjoy.  To say we were surprised is an understatement.  Although the front of the home was nearly immaculate, upon opening the door, we stepped down into a dirt floor with a non-existing staircase and an partially open roof where plenty of water had found its way into the back of the home.

Ensure and adequate crawlspace, we excavated nearly 24” and began the restoration from there.  Because this home had a completely enclosed rear yard with only 100sqft, building a rooftop deck was the best option for providing outdoor space to new buyers.  Elevated living at its best!

Restoring the brick walls while leaving several areas exposed, ensured our ability to allow the new owners a way to experience what a restored 1900 Victorian really feels like.
